The United States has a spectacular network of mountain biking and cycling routes throughout the country, both in urban and rural areas and in any imaginable terrain. You can rent bicycles in all major cities and, in many cases, through shared bike stations, making it a brilliant alternative to explore a city (especially in the summer), either for an hour, an afternoon or throughout the day.   1. Illinois

The Sam Vadalabene Great River Road Bike Trail (trail bike Great River Road Sam Vadalabene) in Alton, Illinois, is just a 40-minute ride by car from St. Louis, Missouri. It offers panoramic views of exuberant beauty on a winding 35-kilometer route along the banks of the Mississippi River (Mississippi River) and the Illinois River (Illinois River) and within the Pere Marquette State Park (Pere Marquette State Park).
